Matsa Malagousia is a local wine produced from the lovely grapes in Attica, and is a "dense" and "savory" wine which only gets better as it ages. So, should you take a liking to it, you can take some home to stock up your wine cellar? A bottle usually sells for just over 10 Euros.
Gaia 'Thalassitis' Assyrtiko is a well-established wine from Santorini. It is best to try a bottle which has matured for at least three years to get the best of this "bone-dry" white wine. It is a highly favored choice in the region ad throughout Greece, and for only 12 Euros, be sure to try some, you will love it.
For red wine lovers, why not try Boutari Xinomavro, all the way from Naoussa, a popular wine in Greece and most of Europe. It is also really affordable at only 7,20 Euros. Driopi Agiorgitiko is a full-bodied wine produced with "careful oak treatment," and a must-try on any trip to Greece, and for close on 10 Euros, it makes for a great gift to take home as well. I can recommend Domaine Paterianakis Mandilaria/ Kotsifali, a unique Cretan blend, and only the well-aged bottles are sold to customers. If you're up for something mellow, this is a "delicious" blend and sells for under 10 Euros.
There are also the "limited production" wines which are not always so readily available although they can be ordered online and delivered countrywide. If you're not sure, the wines on the "limited production" list also have a fantastic selection of both white and red wines.
Gentilini 'Cellar Selection' Robola, Cephalonia, is one of the wide variety of wines which the Ionian islands have to offer. It is a "rich, explosive and opulent" wine, with only three hundred bottles produced on an annual basis. For 13,90 Euros, it may be slightly costlier but certainly worth every penny.
Another "true original" limited edition wine is the Fitrakis Limniona, a silky, elegant, red wine produced in Tornados. The Limnonia vines were grown over 80 years ago and were not seen since then, until 2007 when Christos Zafeirakis brought these grapes back to life, now selling successfully every year at 13,80 Euros.
